Position Overview
We are seeking a Financial Controller to play a critical role in supporting the company’s strategic goals through effective financial management, operational oversight, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this is a leadership role with a team of procurement and administrative support functions that report to this position.
The successful candidate will bring structure, visibility, and financial insight to ownership and senior leadership through strong reporting, job costing, forecasting, and performance analytics.
This role is based out of the Downtown Vancouver office, requiring in office attendance with some flexibility. This is a great role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-change work environment!
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Own the monthly close: reconciliations, accruals/deferrals, consolidations, intercompany, and management reporting.
- Produce timely P&L, balance sheet, cash flow; analyze variances and deliver insight to leadership.
- Oversee AP/AR, billing, collections, and expense management; improve working-capital metrics.
- Maintain the general ledger / chart of accounts; drive process controls and documentation (SOPs).
- Support the VP in budgeting/forecasting, operating plan updates, and rolling cash forecasts.
- Partner with project leads on project accounting (WIP, revenue recognition, margins, change orders).
- Coordinate year-end review/audit and tax filings with external advisors.
- Administer finance systems (ERP/accounting, billing, payroll), data integrity, and user controls.
Administrative Leadership
- Oversee the administration team and day to day leadership.
- Track financial obligations, billing milestones, and deliverables; ensure terms are reflected in invoicing and revenue policies.
- Maintain provincial/federal filings, business licenses, and records; manage policy updates (e.g., travel, spend, purchasing).
- Monitor approval workflows, segregation of duties, and documentation for audits.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with procurement or PSA/ERP systems is an asset
- Multi-entity or cross-border (USA) experience is an asset
Education and Experience
- CPA Designated Accountant
- Post-secondary education in finance, business, or a related field
- 6-8 years of progressive and relevant accounting work experience
Compensation and Additional Perks
- Competitive Compensation based on skill set and experience can range between $120,000 and $150,000 per year
