Position Overview
As a Network Administrator you thrive on building and maintaining solid, reliable networks for all clients while exploring and learning about new technologies and staying current with best practices. Working from our downtown Vancouver office, you are renowned for your exceptional customer service, adept multitasking, and ability to handle urgent situations with calm expertise. Reporting to the Sr. Network & Security Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in troubleshooting and swiftly resolving client network issues while also providing support for project delivery. Your excellent communication skills and unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional client service will be critical to excel in this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide a wide range of network support to various clients and team members of network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, VPN connectivity, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, NAC and WAN circuits.
- Install and configure both physical and virtual network devices, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with the team or work independently on small projects with appropriate supervision.
- Help maintain and develop detailed network documentation for client networks, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Support and maintenance of network monitoring systems and platforms to ensure network stability and performance.
- Performing network configuration changes and scheduled maintenance tasks such as software upgrades.
- Participate and contribute to monthly network reporting for managed clients.
- Follow up on alerts from network monitoring systems, taking proactive measures to prevent issues.
- Provide support for project work, including new device configuration, cabling, physical installations, and on-site testing support
- Identifying areas of improvement and recommendations for client networks.
- Implement and support remote access solutions for seamless connectivity.
- Communicate effectively with clients, keeping them informed of incident progress and changes.
- Participate in regular team and client meetings, contributing to a collaborative work environment.
- Stay up to date with relevant technology, products and services.
- Demonstrate a detail-oriented approach with excellent interpersonal communication skills, displaying a self-motivated and can-do attitude in all interactions.
- Respond to out-of-hours emergencies as needed. This role may require availability outside of standard working hours to address critical system issues that may arise.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Diploma or certificate in Information Technology from an accredited educational institution.
- Industry IT Certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Network+, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Aruba, Juniper, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS.
- 2+ years of experience working for an MSP or related company, an asset.
- Deep understanding of core networking fundamentals such as OSI Model, Spanning-Tree, Link Aggregation, etc.
- Experience working in operational technology (ICS/SCADA/Control Systems) environments, an asset.
- Advanced understanding of network systems, network firewalls and VPN technologies.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS or other cloud providers.
- Knowledge of and experience with Network Monitoring Platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Auvik.
- Outstanding customer service skills, with the ability to effectively address end-users needs and maintain positive client interactions.
- Proactive, self-driven, and able to independently pursue continuous learning and skill enhancement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling clear and concise communication with both clients and team members.
- Strong team player with a collaborative attitude, contributing positively to the work environment.
- Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, ensuring efficient issue resolution.

Compensation and Additional Perks
· Competitive Compensation based on Skill set and experience can range between $90,000 - $110,000
